What is the difference between stable shoes and stable boots?

Stable shoes are usually low, warm, and waterproof shoes that are perfect for everyday work in the stable. They are easy to put on, provide good stability, and can be worn all year round.
Stable boots are higher and offer extra protection against moisture, cold, and mud – an obvious choice during winter or rainy days. Many riders choose to have both models, to easily switch according to season and weather.

Are stable shoes waterproof?

Yes! Most stable shoes and stable boots at Svensk Ridsport are waterproof or water-repellent, made from durable materials such as rubber, neoprene, or leather with a waterproof membrane. They keep your feet dry even during long days in the stable, while allowing your feet to breathe.

Which stable shoes are best for winter?

For the winter months, lined stable boots or warm stable shoes with an insulating sole are recommended, as they protect against cold and provide good grip on slippery surfaces. Brands like Ariat, Mountain Horse, and Equipage offer models with Thermolite lining, shock-absorbing insoles, and sturdy outsoles for the best comfort and durability.

Can you ride in stable shoes?

Some stable shoes with a smooth sole and small heel also work for simple riding – but for optimal safety, riding shoes or riding boots are recommended during riding sessions. However, stable shoes are perfect before and after riding, when mucking out, leading horses, or doing stable chores.
